"We don't do IUD's unless you've been pregnant or had a chlid...I'll leave your name with the clinician...the recommendations say..."
I'm so tired of hearing these types of things. Oh what a curse to be born a woman and never want to bear yourself. I called Planned Parenthood in my area today. They'll see about making an exception but basically they don't do them on women who have never been pregnant or had a child. When I asked her if she had a recommendation of another birth control method I could use that was non-hormonal...well, let's just say she came up with lots of suggestions that didn't meet that standard. I hate this....

Doctors suck

I used to be in the same boat, since the low-dose birth control pills don't work for me. I've been on an old-fashioned serious dose of hormones since I was fifteen (treating ovarian cysts), and they have never bothered me. Unfortunately the prescription eventually ran out of refills and I had no way to get in touch with my doctor.

I went through dozens - literally dozens - of gyns, clinics, and even pcps who constantly told me that the low-dose was better. They refused to prescribe my regular dose, no matter how much pain I was in. They wouldn't even give me a reason why; they said that they worry about blood clots in the legs of women over forty who smoke.

I feel like whenever I go in to a gynecologist, he or she knows my body is just like every other body that has come into that office, and if it isn't - well - I must just be lying.

Grrrr. Keep trying, hon. Someone, somewhere in a doctors office isn't stupid.
