So today is my last day in Germany for a month. I'm looking forward to my trip and am so excited! I spent today refining my packing list and making sure all of it will fit into the two checked and one carry on bag that I'm taking. I believe that my djembe is safe, wrapped up as it is in the various pieces of my heavy-duty sleeping bag and my towel. I had to put my tent poles into that duffel bag...as soon as I remembered to pack them that is. I put them outside the sleeping bag though so they hopefully won't bang against my drum. I packed up an old school rucksack with everything else. I don't own a hiking backpack with a frame and this is as close as it gets in my world. The tent, a weeks worth of clothes and all of toiletries fit into the bag with no problems. I'm going to have to pick up some decent sneakers and some Dr. B's there in WA. *sighs* It's sad that tonight is my last shower with conditioner....the farmstead has a grey water system and so the conditioner I use is a no-no. It breaks down well when the water is treated. I know. I shouldn't be using it. But I'm trying to finish up the non-eco friendly products I have rather than throw away the unused portions. Can I just say that being married to a soldier makes the concept of having to sleep in a tent for three weeks more appealing as you can "borrow" lots of stuff from the military? Need a sleeping bag? No problem honey, I got issued two. Need a bag to pack it all in that you will be able to carry across rough terrain? No problem honey, I got issued an outdated rucksack you can use as I can only use the new one anyway. *smiles* As many downsides as there are, it's nice to find perks.
Went to
elvnsword's doctors appointment with him. That went pretty well despite the fact that they are telling him that he basically has no options to fix the nastiness with his wrist. We keep hoping. Tonight will be a busy stressful evening. We're driving down to Ansbach to pick up my brother's Jeep that we are borrowing for the forseeable future. The rental car is a standard so I had to drive it earlier today. How funny that I'm the only one in my house proficient at driving a standard considering how long and difficult it was to learn when I was 16. The Jeep is an automatic though, so that means someone else can drive it back. I may make Black drive the car despite its standard-ness so that he can improve his confidence and skills. Every person should know how to drive a standard!!
