somewhere around here i have photos of what matt and i did the year we got all the way up to Jemez, 1.5 hours drive time from home, then up a long dirt road, then hiking straight up the side of the mountain with all our gear...then the discovery that tent poles were back in the city. we had some rope in the car, though. and were camping in a grassy meadow dotted with stands of aspen trees----we strung up a crazy spiderweb of ropes that was a hilarious marvel of on-the-fly engineering, and the tent stood up well enough for us to camp in it for four days.

*chuckles* Yeah. I'm packing everything up for my trip to WA for my permaculture design class. I'll be living in the tent for three weeks. I had everything packed up until the point I noticed the draw string bag with all of the poles. Now I have to rearrange everything. But I'm excited so that's ok.
