And so my LJ entry thingie works again (I was having issues getting it to stop looking for the server even though I told it not to...). Today is the second day of class. I have finished all my reading and all my homework. I've also eaten breakfast *smiles*. Today is the lab day. We are supposed to be studying dendrochronology (the study of dating using tree rings) today. I don't really understand how it can be accurate at all so I have a ton of questions to ask. I need to run away and try to print my paper though and pick up a lab notebook...I had forgotten I needed one and I have forty minutes until class.

Finally....
Jan. 4th, 2005 02:10 pmSo I just pulled the time honored trick of making a new friend: Observe the cafeteria. Look for the guy sitting by himself who is dressed a little different. Approach and introduce yourself. I am now invited to go bowling tonight and to party all Jan Term should I choose to. Did I mention this guy is totally hot? As in completely and totally hot...*drools* Sorry...getting a grip now. But he's interesting and deals well with randomness. It appears I am about to start making friends.*does the happy dance* And did I mention he's hot? *giggles*
Oooh! Pretty Colors...
Jan. 4th, 2005 04:56 pmIn my chemistry lab today we dissolved chemicals into water and then combined them to make pigments. I forgot how much fun it is to combine things, swirl them and watch it make new stuff. They all came out beautiful colors and I look forward to the time where we make them into paint and eventually paint with them. This is the messiest lab notebook I've ever kept. I realized that this college doesn't really give guidelines for how to do assignments either. I guess Berea has been spoon-feeding us so far. But, because of that spoon-feeding I know how to write the kind of papers I need to for my assignments. I need to set out a timeline to do the research for my major presentation at the end of January.
