Well, I went and applied for the job I'm going to have for the summer today. My brother (Brad) was supposed to take me in, introduce me and get me set up. He decided to run off with his fiancee instead and my other brother (Rayvon) had to pick up the slack. It really pissed me off because it isn't very often that I need him to do something like that. *rant* *rant* ok...done now.

In other news, I haven't really been spending much time at the family bonding game. There was a great moment at lunch though where we were all together in the kitchen scurrying like ants trying to get our respective projects done. Rayvon and I baked a pecan pie together while my mom and Brad both worked at making sandwhiches and stuff.

Today my cousins are coming in from NM. We're all going to drive down to my grandparents for Christmas and I'm hoping that goes well. I will have to deal with my 16 year old cheerleader cousin though. She thinks I'm the coolest thing in the world...which confuses me...but she's been pulling some real dumb stuff lately and the Council has decided I should talk to her about them because she respects me and will actually listen to me.

BTW, the Council is the group of women that run my extended family. Basically it's my mother, both of my grandmothers and my aunts at times. They are the ones that make sure people's needs are being met and that everyone is taken care of. They are also the ones that beat us down when we need it...because sometimes we do *grins*. Anyway, I'm slowly being brought more and more into the fold and they occasionally have me talk to some of the younger cousins and help them talk through things. (Wow...that sounds awful cheesy when typed, but it really is the way it works...I'm going to leave it in despite it's cheesiness.)

My cousin, the one six years younger than me who sometimes I call "little sister" was like that with me for a while. And whenever she and her step-mother would have little fights or disagreements/misunderstandings, and I got to hear the step-mother's side, I was always recruited to communicate with my cousin the "cool" part of what my step-mother's viewpoint is. Or better, that she's not trying to be a bitch; she's just trying to keep her from experiencing any harm or hurt. :) It'd be my mom and my two aunts who'd come to ask me to talk to my cousin. My grandmother at that point really wasn't involved in family stuff... her mind would just scatter elsewhere.
