I've been going through lots of the webpages of the universities that offer the grad school program that I'm interested in and I've been thinking about it a lot today. Most of the programs I've checked out (including Maryland, Washington St., Illinois, and New York) have not really had the emphasis I want on computers. So I really think that I'm going to end up going to grad school in Michigan. That partly scares the crap out of me. I know that's two years in the future but I am quite a bit afraid of being out on my own in a way that college at Berea doesn't quite provide. Yes, I am the only person living in KY that I'm related to...but Berea is still set up to coddle me and keep me from doing stupid things. Rent in Michigan is significantly cheaper than rent in Boston. I'll be in the Ann Arbor area if I go there and it doesn't seem to bad. I have no idea how I'll get a job there or anything like that. Boy, this grad school things sure is a lot of stress. I don't really want to think about how much more stressful it's going to get in the next two years. This means that I most definitely will need a car after Berea...something that I had been hoping to avoid when I moved to Boston. Added to that, I'm going to need furniture considering that I don't actually own any except for a pine chest full of things in Oklahoma. My parents sold my old bed, which was a single and wouldn't have really suited me anyway. My parents own, and are currently using, the chest of drawers I had as a child. I own a computer desk but my parents have also taken that over. *sigh* Wow...sometimes it sucks to be a grownup.

As far as I know, UC doesn't have an archival program...and you can't really become an archivist without a MLS or something to that effect. But if they do that would certainly be better than Michigan by my lonesome.
