Thanksgiving Running Commentary

Apple pie baked. Broccoli rice casserole put together. Mashed red potatoes and mashed sweet potatoes finished. Turkey is in the oven. Ham is thawed. I just have the mac n cheese bake and the salad left to put together.

ETA: Guests should be arriving in the next forty minutes. All I have left to do is add some cornstarch to the drippings from the turkey and make it into gravy. The ham is in the oven now and is the last thing for the oven. The house smells wonderful and I dressed up just a touch.

Wow, that's quite a bit. :)

purrzah and I are having a simpler day of things. We've got nearly everything prepped, since I did all of that yesterday. She's just got to make the pie crust(s) and then bake the pumpkin pie. Mix the stuffing and bake it with the bird. And then there's the rest of it to just pop into the convection oven or microwave to warm it up before serving.

We're doing the turkey, stuffing, gravy (which I'll do once the bird is cooked), candied yams, bussel sprouts, stuffed portabella mushrooms, and cranberry sauce; and we'll have pumpkin pie for dessert, of course. :) Since it's just the two of us, this year, we didn't figure we'd go all out for lots of eats, just our own personal favorites.

I made the two pumpkin pies and the cranberry sauce yesterday. *laughs* I'm hosting something like 8 people!
