Pet Frustration

So my mom left the family dog with a friend of the family when she came over here to live. This would normally be just fine. Except this friend has decided she can't take care of her anymore. The bigger problem is that she hasn't been taking care of her well in the first place. Her rabies shots are 9 months over due. Seriously. We were there in December. If she was having problems paying for the dog, she could have just said something. As it is, we bought over six months worth of food while we were there for her. I also doubt she has been keeping up with her heartworm medicine. This is very frustrating because I can't bring the dog over here until at least 30 days after her rabies shot. We are trying to get the person keeping her to commit to taking her to the vet for a rabies shot. We will send the money of course. This is just so frustrating because we love this dog and thought she was being better taken care of than she has been. Now I'm going to have to fly back to the states to pick her up and bring her here. *sighs* This is just fantastic. My family had plans for the money we've been saving. There is NO ONE else in my family who can take her. We all live in Germany. *sighs*

My thoughts exactly. I'm very glad for the poor doggie's sake that you are so conscientious, but why can't your mom do this? it's her dog, right?

My mom flies poorly. Also, her husband is coming in to visit the end of this month and will be here until the middle of October. If things work out to where the dog gets the vaccination immediately, Mom won't be able to go. There's really no telling. Plus, my mom is panicking. We're talking about flying space available half way and going to see my grandparents and getting the dog in one fell swoop then just paying to come back with the dog.
