This doesn't work with veggies/fruit that are mostly water. Also, make sure you only save food that is good quality. Cut out the spots and if there are too many spots, don't freeze it. There is no sense in doing all the work for poor food. Also, realize that veggies and fruit that have been frozen have a different texture when unfrozen. Generally, they need to be cooked to be any good.
1. Wash veggies. I usually just use plain water but it depends on where I get them from or what is on the outside of them.
2. Clean them. This applies to things like strawberries, green beans and the like. So, de-stem the greens and chop. Cut off stems of strawberries. Take the tips off green beans. Slice squash. Stuff like that.
3. Arrange on a cookie sheet in a single layer not touching.
4. Put in freezer for fifteen minutes.
5. Put in a labeled ziploc and return to freezer.
Repeat until finished.
