I was in a much better mood for a lot of today. I'm headed to a birthday party in half an hour or so. I got her a candle and a bouquet of flowers. I'm hoping a good time will be had by all.

I ate today like I should. And I got dressed. I've been just kinda reading and relaxing. What do normal people do for their birthdays? I always do a tarot reading for mine. I wonder if it would be weird for her if I offered that? I don't know her religious persuasion and sometimes that offends people.

I got to talk to [livejournal.com profile] elvnsword last night. Things went pretty well. I'll talk to him after I get back tonight too. He's such a good man. I'm glad I married him. Even if I do have the overwhelming urge to brain him on occasion *grins*. We've been working though ideas to make some of our habits better.

I made a gift registry online for my baby shower. It felt weird. I hate asking people for stuff. And it's hard to figure out what is too expensive to ask for and what isn't. There's a good selection from $8 to $35. I'm not expecting too much. So many of the products offered seem so ridiculous and unnecessary. Who really needs lightswitch covers?!? Give me a break. Maybe I'm just a different breed of person. I'm trying to decide whether I want to add things to go on the wall or not. There were some musical, light up toys that I could hang on the ceiling over the crib. I don't know. I'm not good at this picking out stuff deal. [livejournal.com profile] elvnsword is sooo much better at it.

Anyway, randomness over.

The lightswitch covers do seem silly, at first, but if you think about the recent understanding of babies learning abilities (even at a few monthes old) it begins to make sense. That is something colorful, which stimulates the sense of sight, and can lead to stimulating other senses later on, as well.

Consider that sight isn't as prolific a sense at that young an age, though, as sound (unless the child is born deaf, of course) or touch. And remember that it's been discovered a baby's sense of touch is much more prolific in the mouth, rather than with the fingers/skin, which is the hypothosis of why they are continually putting things into their mouths.

Soft chewy toys, plushies (even the furless variety) and sound/color stimulous items like mobiles or the musical-light up balls are good things to add to a baby's tool/toy box for being able to learn and adapt to things around them, even at the earliest stages of development.

I did put the singing musical wall hangings on the list. But I still think that having light covers and lamp shades and wall paper and sheets that all have to be the same pattern is overkill. *grins*

I am glad you are feeling better.

You should look at your regustery as a wish list people pick all different kinds of stuff. Choose things you would never buy for yourself too. BTW where did you register. Amazon is nice.

I registered at thethingsiwant.com so I can add things from any website. I like that. And I'll try to keep in mind to pick lots of different stuff.
