I got up when [livejournal.com profile] elvnsword did this morning and gave my mom a call. She seems to be doing better than last time I talked to her and I'm going to go visit in the next few weeks.

I'm kinda enjoying the quiet although I can tell that a nap is going to be important later if I don't go now. I didn't get much of my cleaning done yesterday so I have to catch up on all of that stuff. I am not in as bad of a place as I could be...It is slowly getting cleaner than it was in GA and I think that's a good thing.

I go to take my driver's test today to get my driver's license for Germany. I'm pretty sure I'll pass since I studied a lot last week and did well on a practice test. Hopefully, that will work out so I can register the car and pick it up from the shipping point.

It will be nice to have a car again for when I absolutely need it, but I'm still planning to do most of my traveling through walking. I like buying groceries once a week and having a menu plan. It cuts down on how often we eat out and I get to experiment with more recipes. I have started cooking vegetarian meals two or three times a week. I like that.

I'm glad to head your mom is better, today. It likely will vary from day to day, though. (Not the Lupus, that's a given; I mean with the situation going on.)

And yes, having a car is better for certain things than walking or taking the bus... grocery trips is one of those things. I've been looking at more veggie meals, though I have a tougher time with the two others living here if I don't include meat in any given meal. Let me know about some of the recipes you're trying out, when you get the chance. I'd love to check into them and try to get the others here to appreciate them, too.

I found a really good vegetarian cook book that is designed to get kids to eat the food and everyone I've cooked recipes from there for have loved it. It's called The Vegetarian Family Cookbook by Nava Atlas.

Oh! I had one more thought you may want to try. There's a website (allrecipes.com) that lets you search databases full of recipes and lets you search by ingredients. That has been very helpful to me. Of course, I end up putting my own twist on things but they are excellent starting points.

Its pretty easy to cook vegetarian (and quite healthy), once you get the hang of it. Vegan, however, is a different matter. I´m always adding to my arsenal though...One of these days I´ĺl record all my modified recipes.
