Does anyone here have experience in investing? If you do, do you do it yourself or work through a broker? Anybody have suggestions of good books on investing that you've read and found helpful? I'm not looking to get into rental properties. I'm just exploring mutual funds and things of that nature and thought it couldn't hurt to ask if anyone had any good advice for me.

The Market is not very good right now, I was told that after the presidential elections there might be a big change in our economy so that will affect any stock, bonds etc.

If you don't mind risking I'll say go for stock, if you want something more stable go for mutual funds. I don't risk doing the buying and saling I let my bank handle it. They are usually pretty good, given my limited income.

Then it'll be time to start shorting stocks, or buying put options then after those elections :)

I posted a similar question a while back. Thought you might like to read the responses.
