Busy Productive Day
Feb. 2nd, 2008 04:57 pmI was woken up at about 9:30am this morning. Mom and I were going to go to the Farmer's Market, but it was starting to rain. Instead, we went to Heidelberg. We went to the bookmark and I succeeded at not buying any books. YAY! Then I bought a new slotted cooking spoon and a cooking spatula. I've been slowly replacing all of the cheap utentils I have that melt some with use with some utensils that are rated to a much higher temperature. They are expensive though, so I only buy them one or two at a time. I also bought a set of stock pots. I spent about $25 on all of those things. Mom and I went to the thrift shop. We got some things for the baby that would cost at least $50 if we paid full price for just at $14 including changing pads, pump/bottle sterilizer, bottle dryer, a baby chair that can be attached to the dining table and some small baby cereal bowls. Then we went to the commissary and bought groceries. I also picked up some new cloth bags (these are actually mesh). We got some pretty good deals. I currently have an entire chicken that I got for $4 in the new stock pot making some chicken broth. I want to can it so I can use it when I'm ready for it and stop buying the stock that doesn't taste as good as my homemade stock anyway. Then I'm going to take the chicken off the bone and cube it up for the freezer. That lets me just add it to whatever dish I want and have pre-cooked chicken ready all the time. I also ordered some organic cotton produce bags so I can stop having to use those stupid produce bags that aren't useful for anything and just have to be recycled. I got a tip on a discount code and got 8 (4 large and 4 small) bags for just at $20.
