Ever had things that just sock you in the gut? I just off the phone with my grandmother. She's located in Lufkin, TX right now. They have about 12 members of my extended family staying there with them. They evacuated from Houston and couldn't find a hotel room anywhere. They are all sleeping split up into three different houses on air mattresses and the like. The storm is supposed to hit in earnest tomorrow. My grandmother said that they have plenty of water and food. That old house has been through more storms than I can count and it is still stable. That doesn't make it any less scary. According to this map, they are directly in the path of the hurricane and it will hit sometime around 4pm. Whoever you are, whoever you believe in, pray for my family and the countless others like them who have all been caught off-guard. And if you don't believe in anyone or anything, thoughts can make miracles happen so thoughts of safety and comfort are appreciated too.
