So apparently tonight is "Convince random strangers to get tested for STI's" night. I wish I had known before hand. I would have gotten a t-shirt. Not that I don't think everyone should get tested, because I absolutely do. I just find it to be my automatic response to someone asking me questions about poly that include the whole "But isn't that higher risk for STI's?" To which I have to answer that poly is actually safer than my serial monogamy was. At this point, people usually start to think about the number of partners they've had in their lives, laugh nervously to themselves and half-heartedly comment that maybe they should get tested. I suppose I do kinda pounce on that moment of clarity for them, but obviously someone needed to do it. Besides, can't go bashing poly and the STI rates there if you know almost nothing about STI rates for serial monogamy and have never bothered to get tested yourself.
