Here We Go Again...

It's been almost exactly two weeks to the day since [livejournal.com profile] elf_baby finished her antibiotics for her last ear infection. And this morning she woke me up crying and telling me her ear hurts. She's sleeping now on some acetaminophen. I'm going to call her doctor in a few minutes and see about taking her in. I want to get them to run an allergy panel on her to find out what is causing all of the sinus drainage. She's had sinus drainage for about a week and a rough sounding cough for the last four days or so. I don't know as I'm going to ask for more antibiotics because that seems really soon to be using them again. I'll have to see what the doctor recommends.

I'm sorry, honey. Here's hoping that things clear up soon. ;-)

Me too. She's been so good about it though. I just hate when she feels this way.

I was very prone to ear infections as a kid and I know that had something to do with taking my tonsils out. Hope she feels better soon!

Did you have tubes put in? I'm considering asking about it if she keeps having these ear infections. They are thinking that the infection never really cleared up, so they put her on a new one.

Nope, never had tubes. The worst that I can remember is that they gave me a shot in my thigh since my arm wasn't big enough for the amount of medicine (or anti-biotic?) they needed to give me. All I know is that my folks told me that the ear infections and tonsillitis (of course) went way down after tonsils out. Though I will admit that I still have a tendency towards some ear issues when congested. I always thought that having the tonsils out was the in thing to do at that time, but I asked my folks today and they said no. The doctors didn't want to take them out but my grandmother insisted :).

The trouble with allergy panels for seasonal allergies is that she could be sensitive to one specific kind of grass or flower pollen but not another, and there are SO MANY to test for. They just prescribed OTC Zyrtec for Ryan and it seems to help with his a lot. I hope she feels better soon, its no fun when they are sick :(

We've tried the Zyrtec but it has been a bit sporadic with her going back and forth. I don't know how well it worked because I don't know how regularly she was getting it. I picked some up today at Target (off brand of course because of recalls) and I'm going to start giving it to her when I take my pills every day. Here's hoping it works. She was super awesome when they drew the blood for the panel though; didn't even squirm.
